Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound of cubed chicken or 1 block of tofu cubed
  • 3 tbsp coconut aminos
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 2 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch or tapioca starch
  • 1/2 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 1 inch grated ginger
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds
  • Optional: red pepper flakes

Instructions

  • First cook the chicken/tofu on medium heat in a skillet. Season with salt and pepper in olive oil
  • In a dish, whisk together the coconut aminos, water, rice vinegar, ketchup, coconut sugar, onion powder, sesame seeds and red pepper flakes
  • Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
  • Add sauce into pan and bring to a slight boil while continually stirring. Once there is a slight boil, quickly change to low heat.
  • Mix together the cornstarch with a splash of water to make a slurry. Then add to the sauce in the pan
  • Add chicken or tofu into the sauce and thoroughly cover the chicken
  • Pair with white rice and steamed broccoli or your favorite sides

Notes

  • To make this paleo, use a ketchup, such as this, that is complaint and tapioca starch instead of cornstarch
