Peppermint Chocolate Covered Pretzels

These are a delicious and easy healthy snack to make for the holidays! Not into peppermint? Ditch the essential oil and enjoy the classic sweet and salty mix!

Servings 60 mini pretzels

Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 60 gluten free mini pretzels can use regular mini pretzels
  • 1 cup melting chocolate
  • 4 drops peppermint essential oil see notes for extract amount
  • sprinkles optional

Instructions
 

  • Layout the mini pretzels on a tray lined with parchment paper (to prevent sticking)
  • Add dark chocolate to a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 30 second increments. Stir each increment until completely melted. Should be between 1 to 2 minutes, depending on the kind of chocolate.
  • Add peppermint essential oil to the melted chocolate and stir
  • Either dip one side of the pretzel in the melted chocolate and lay back on the parchment paper to cool. Or use a fork to dip and coat the entire pretzel and place back on the parchment paper
  • Before the chocolate cools, pour sprinkles or crushed candy canes over the chocolate covered pretzels.
  • Place in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to set!

Notes

  1. can use regular mini pretzels
  2. any baking chocolate will work - I used Hu Gems
  3. if you want to use peppermint extract instead, use 3/4 teaspoon
